Technical glitches have prevented many patients from creating exchange accounts, because thanks to the shutdown there aren’t enough information technology workers available to correct many of the problems. Nonetheless, it’s estimated that about 8 million people have visited the federal exchange site healthcare.gov, which covers 36 states. When you include visitors to the sites that separately cover 14 additional states, it’s estimated that the number of unique visitors rises to about 15 million.
While the official enrollment push doesn’t begin until November and many visitors haven’t been able to set up accounts as of yet, each day that enrollment continues will make it that much more difficult to defund health care reform without creating disruptions in many Americans’ insurance coverage down the road.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Jon C. Ogg]
Sirius XM Radio Inc. (NASDAQ: SIRI) is now in-play under mergers and acquisitions. The virtual parent Liberty Media Corp. (NASDAQ: LMCA), under John Malone, has offered to buyout Sirius XM shareholders in a tax-free buyout at about $3.68 per share. The terms call for 0.0760 shares of a new issue of Liberty Series C common stock per share of Sirius XM. Pay attention here, because it sure seems as though Sirius XM shareholders may be gettinghosed here in a serious way.

Liberty Media Corp. (LMCA), the holding company for media investments made by John Malone and his team, rose 13.6% in the quarter due primarily to the continued appreciation of Sirius XM Radio shares, of which Liberty controls and now owns over 50%. Sirius continues to grow its cash flow by over 25% and is levering up by aggressively repurchasing its stock under Liberty's guidance. Liberty also made a new meaningful investment in cable operator Charter Communications, Malone's heritage industry. Can you say "Back to the Future?"

We were right - and we weren't alone in that assessment. Cable-operator Liberty Media Inc. (Nasdaq: LMCA), which already owned 52% of Sirius, on Monday said it would buy the portion of the company it didn't already own.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Tyler Crowe]
But to focus simply on renewables for distributed power would do some other parts of the industry a disservice, because companies such as Capstone Turbine (NASDAQ: CPST ) are proving that localized generation of natural gas can be just as efficient as a big centralized utility plant. This one-two punch of renewable power as the primary energy source with localized natural gas generation as a backup for when solar or wind can't generate power could be a big threat to the utilities sector.

I was so scarred by their subsequent crash that when I heard a portfolio manager rhapsodizing about the recent performance of Plug Power Inc (NSDQ: PLUG), Fuelcell Energy Inc (NSDQ: FCEL) and Capstone Turbine Corp (NSDQ: CPST), I could scarcely believe it. These were names that I had not heard in years, names that many investors would like to forget. Indeed, even with the recent run-up in their share prices, the value of these firms today is just a small fraction of what it was back then.

Capstone Turbine (NASDAQ: CPST ) -- $1.30
Things are finally starting to happen for the microturbine maker. Revenue is growing at a healthy clip, and analysts see Capstone finally turning a quarterly profit later this year. - [By Dan Caplinger]
Beyond the fundamentals, though, news plays an important role in short-term stock movements. Outside the Dow, microturbine producer Capstone Turbine (NASDAQ: CPST ) soared 8.8% after receiving its second large order in the past week. After getting word of a purchase from real-estate and investment firm Related Companies on Tuesday, Capstone got an order today from Southern California Gas to buy three of its C65 uninterruptible power-source units for use at the gas company's data center. Given the relatively small size of the business, which sports sales of only about $122 million over the past year, orders like this have a material effect on Capstone and also draw the attention of other prospective buyers.

Add all of this up, and one would have expected a safe haven for its credit rating, but Moody's obviously felt differently and made that publicly known last week. Investors shouldn't place all of the blame on Alcoa, though. The struggles being experienced are widespread. Just this year, Rio Tinto (NYSE: RIO ) issued a full-year loss, in part because of a $14 billion writedown of its aluminum and coal assets. A lengthy turnaround in prices could continue its negative impact to Rio Tinto, as 20% of its 2012 revenues stemmed from this segment.

Mining giant Rio Tinto PLC (NYSE: RIO) already owns 50.8% of Turquoise Hill Resources Ltd. (NYSE: TRQ), and speculation that Rio Tinto will buy the other 49.2% has boosted Turquoise Hill’s share price by nearly 13% in the week ending Thursday. Most of the gain came in the last two days, although shares were giving some of that gain back Friday probably because Rio Tinto has not announced an offer yet.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Lee Jackson]
Occidental Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: OXY) had a huge day when the company announced that it was spinning off its California assets into a separate company. Occidental has faced calls from Wall Street and activist investors to split its U.S. business from its international operations, with analysts valuing the assets between $19 billion and $22 billion. The fact that the company is not an integrated is seen as a huge positive. Without refining or midstream operations, independent exploration and production majors like Occidental will see the full benefit of rising oil prices in their future results. In an unlikely but not out of the question scenario, the company could also be a takeover target, but it would come with a very steep price tag. Investors receive a very solid 3.0% dividend. The consensus price objective is $107.20. Shares closed Thursday at $92.93.
